Sandwich Honfleur Twinning Association

Welcome/Bienvenue to Sandwich Honfleur Twinning Association.

As an active group of members and volunteers we enjoy sharing ideas and activities which include a monthly French film evening at the Empire Cinema in Sandwich, social events, a visit to Honfleur and one from our Honfleur friends. We support the local community events both here in Sandwich and in Honfleur, having fun, laughing, singing, dancing, taking care of our mental and physical health.

In recent years we’ve enjoyed visiting attractions in France such as The Giverny Gardens, Benedictine Monks Monastery, Cider making and a boat trip on the river Seine. During COVID times we have implemented processes inline with Government guidance to provide a safe environment.  2022 has seen us hold an open-air event in the Guildhall forecourt with local talents, the Rock Choir, performing for us and our Honfleur friends; our guests were treated to a barn dance and hog roast, celebration of the life of the Queen together with the band *Queen*, and a historic tour of the Medieval Town.

The annual membership is £12.50 and the committee of volunteers encourages members input and ideas to develop its annual programme of events and trips.:

Monthly French films with English subtitles at the local cinema.
Biennial 4-day group visit staying with hosts in Honfleur.
Biennial 4-day hosting of Honfleur group in Sandwich.
Wine tasting and quiz evenings.
‘Chez nous’ get-togethers for food, drink.
‘Vin Chaud’ stalls at the Sandwich Christmas Lights Switch On.
SHTA Christmas Dinner & Party.
Social get-togethers in and around Sandwich during the year.
SHTA stall at ‘Le Weekend’ in Sandwich.
French conversation group at the Sandwich library.
