Sandwich Town Council

The 16 elected members of Sandwich Town Council meet monthly in the Guildhall Council Chamber. The Town Council Offices are sited within the Guildhall as are the Sandwich Archives. At the heart of the Cinque Port Town of Sandwich lies the 16th century Guildhall, the focal point of both ancient traditions and modern activities. The Court Room, although no longer a court of law, remains the scene of traditional ceremonies such as Mayor Making, and is a hugely popular wedding venue. The Sandwich Guildhall Museum was refreshed and revitalised with a Heritage Lottery Fund grant in early 2017 and now houses a rich and varied display of exhibits, including the Sandwich Magna Carta and Charter of the Forest dating from 1300.
