Richborough Roman Fort and Amphitheatre is on Richborough Road, around two miles north of Sandwich. Follow the brown tourist signs from the A256; the postcode for sat-nav is CT13 9JW. Parking is available on site. Sandwich rail station and local bus services are the nearest public-transport links; check the official English Heritage directions before travelling.
The visitor centre has a shop with Roman-themed gifts, books, snacks, ice creams and hot and cold drinks. There is parking, toilets, picnic benches and an outdoor historic site to explore, including the fort, museum, reconstructed gateway and the earthwork remains of the amphitheatre.
English Heritage provides detailed access information for mobility, sensory and other access needs. There are six picnic benches and three seats near the visitor centre; there are no seats inside the fort walls. The amphitheatre is in a field around a 10- to 15-minute walk from the visitor centre, so please wear suitable footwear and allow time.
